GALLERY: World Book Day in King’s Juniors

Pupils in Junior School spent the day off timetable as they celebrated their love of books and reading on World Book Day.

The Consterdine Hall was filled with excited chatter as the children gathered to show off their costumes in the traditional World Book Day parade and it was fantastic to see so many recognisable characters from a wide variety of literary favourites.

A special mention goes to J3S with their carefully coordinated effort of no fewer than 13 stripy-topped Where’s Wallys and one Mr Spellman dressed as the magical Wizard Whitebeard from the same series of books.

The annual whole-school read in the hall is a favourite World Book Day activity; it is always a very special time when teachers and pupils come together to read quietly together for ten minutes.

Other activities included the Masked Reader and Shelfie competitions, a book quiz and a visit from Head Librarian, Miss Brooks, who talked about her life in books and challenged the pupils to create a reading river.
