On Saturday, 19 November, more than forty J3 and J4 pupils enjoyed a morning of hockey fun at The King’s School first Hockeyfest session.
Hockeyfest has been developed by Director of Hockey, Mr Egerton, to give Junior School pupils the opportunity to benefit from the fantastic facilities and wealth of coaching and playing experience in the Senior School.
Mr Egerton said: “I am delighted that so many pupils attended our first Hockeyfest session.
“We have enjoyed a great deal of hockey success in Senior School over the last couple of years and it is great that the buzz is filtering down to the Junior School.”
Hockeyfest is a fun and inclusive event where pupils of any ability can practise core skills, build teamwork and develop as players in a supportive environment.
The Senior School coaching team includes a number of staff with international and club experience. Mr Egerton is a former England and Great Britain international player and he is joined in his team by current U23 Wales player Miss Parkinson, former Wales international Dr Ashcroft and national league player Miss Halstead.
Mr Egerton continued: “We are so pleased that we have this opportunity to share our collective experience and love for hockey with Junior School pupils.”
A second Hockeyfest session will run for J3 and J4 pupils on Saturday, 26 November with sessions planned for J1 and J2 pupils next term. All pupils are welcome and no hockey experience or equipment is necessary.
