At 11am on 11 November, the school fell silent as pupils and staff joined the country in remembering all those who have given their lives in conflict, including the Old King’s Scholars who are remembered on the school’s war memorial.
The exhortation was read by Adaora Ekwueme (U6GLA) before Jake Bywater (L6GRO) played the Last Post and the 2-minute silence was observed.
The two minute silence ended with the playing of Reveille when Head of School, Jonni Ashton (U6DUT), recited the Kohima Epitaph.
Two senior CCF cadets, Nathan Baggott (U6FOX) and Alvern Qian (U6 FOX) led the wreaths to be laid at the war memorial.
The wreath-laying party comprised pupils from across the school who have family connection with the armed forces.
Fourth year musician Will Appleton (4WER) led the city in remembrance as he played the Last Post at a short service in Chester city centre.
The service came a day after the city’s main service of remembrance when the school was represented by cadets from The King’s School Chester Combined Cadet Force and wreaths were laid on behalf of The King’s School and Chester Association of Old King’s Scholars (CAOKS).
