Congratulations to Adèle Bracegirdle (U6WAL) who has been offered a place at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester.
Adèle will take up her place to study for a Bachelor of Music with Honours at the prestigious conservatoire in September with flute as her principal instrument.
Admission to RNCM is highly competitive and Adèle underwent a series of auditions, tests and interviews before being offered her place.
As well as playing a very active role in the musical life of King’s, Adèle also plays for the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain, Hallé Youth Orchestra and at the Junior Royal Northern College of Music.
She is looking forward to the world-class teaching and excellent musical opportunities that will be available to her when she begins her course.
She said: “As well as one-to-one tuition on the flute, I will also take part in group classes and masterclasses, and study theory and musicianship. My ultimate goal is to play professionally with an orchestra, preferably in Europe, and studying at RNCM will give me the experience I need to fulfil that dream.”
Although applications to conservatoires are made through UCAS, the process is quite different to a standard university application and Adèle was grateful to the support she received from her teachers.
She said: “Mr Carter helped a lot with the application and he made sure that he had all the information he needed, and that we met all the deadlines.
“I am also incredibly grateful to the Director of Music, Mrs Whitfield for all of her support over the last few years, especially whilst I was preparing for my auditions and interviews.”
