CAOKS is delighted to announce the recipients of this year’s Baty Overseas Voluntary Service Award.
Every year, the award, named after former Headteacher Mr Charles Baty (1930 – 1946), provides a grant of up to £500 to support recent leavers to undertake a project of work overseas.
This year’s recipients are Melissa Hughes (OKS 2022) and Anna Crosley (OKS 2022)
Melissa has received £250 towards her trip to Sri Lanka to help with Sea Turtle Conservation work.
In February 2023 Melissa will fly out to start her Gap Year where she will be helping with the only 100% ethical programme in Sri Lanka and will be involved of all aspects of conservation.
Melissa said; “I am delighted to be receiving this contribution towards my trip. I am very much looking forward to relaying details of my experience.”
Anna has also received £250. Anna is heading off to Chiang Mai in Thailand next year to work with the New Life Centre Foundation.
The centre empowers tribal women to build healthy and resilient families. Anna found out about the centre from her time spent in Singapore.
Anna expressed her thanks on finding out she had been awarded the money; “Thank you very much! I am really looking forward to it.”
We are excited to hear all about their time away and will keep you updated as to how they are getting on.
