This year, the annual King’s in the Capital event was held at the prestigious House of Lords. With more than 100 Old King’s Scholars in attendance, including a number of recent leavers, this was our biggest ever gathering of former pupils in the capital.
Guests were greeted with a drink on arrival and relished the opportunity to catch up with old friends as they took in the stunning views of London from the terrace.
Many year groups were represented, ranging from 1958 leavers to our most recent Alumni, the class of ’23 and all enjoyed chatting with current teachers, Seb Neal, Steve Downey, and Ali Hollingworth, as well as Headmaster George Hartley.
Many thanks to our speaker, Jonathan Samuels (OKS 1991), who is now a well-respected broadcast journalist at Sky News. Guests were entertained and captivated as he shared tales from his 20 years’ experience of breaking international news stories, as well a few anecdotes from his school days at King’s. Jonathan can regularly be seen on Sky News, which is available on Freeview 233.
Headmaster George Hartley thanked our guests for an enjoyable evening. He said: “It was wonderful to see so many former pupils at the House of Lords this evening and I was especially pleased that so many of our recent leavers came along as the newest members of our OKS community.”
As the night at the House of Lords came to a close, many guests continued their conversations and late into the evening in London.
