Congratulations to Lily Wood (OKS 2022) who has secured a place at the prestigious Rutgers University in the USA.
After being recruited for the Rowing team at the New Jersey based university, Lily was required to write an essay and answer questions about her time and experience at The King’s School in order to secure her place to study Psychology and Sports Management.
Lily, who was was a key member of the King’s School Rowing team and has also represented GB in the sport, explained that she had always wanted to study in the States.
She said: “I knew from a young age that I wanted to study in the US but didn’t think it would ever be possible until I started to compete at a high level in a sport that is huge over there. There are a lot of opportunities for rowers to be recruited by coaches from a number of different universities and that’s how I was recruited to be on the Rowing team at Rutgers.
As part of the application process, Lily wrote an essay about an injury she had sustained whilst playing sport and how it allowed her to understand what she really wanted out of my sporting career.
Lily will be taking up her place at Rutgers this term and is excited to get started with both her studies and her rowing.
She explained: “I chose Rutgers for its great academic programme, especially for the majors I wanted to study, as well as a constantly improving rowing team with a team atmosphere that will allow my rowing career to thrive.”
