In October, we hosted our inaugural alumni gathering in Newcastle. Building on the popularity of our annual King’s in the Capital event, the decision to go north was an easy one.
The event was held in the atmospheric surroundings of Black Friars Restaurant and Banquet hall where a delicious two-course meal was enjoyed by all, particularly the university students who had been missing the comforts of home-cooked food.
Headmaster, George Hartley, welcomed our guest speaker, Dr Ravi Jayaram (OKS 1985), who provided an insightful overview of his career in medicine and media before spending the evening chatting to his fellow alumni.
The event was organised by Development Officer, Gemma Carvell. She said: “It has been a fantastic evening and we have been delighted to welcome so many Old King’s Scholars from different generations.
“I have enjoyed seeing our older alumni chatting to our most recent leavers, especially as they have discovered so many common connections.
“We will certainly be looking on building on the success of this first regional event and look to branch out further in the future.”
Despite a few guests having early morning lectures, the event continued late into the evening as conversation continued to flow.
