As part of their Up, Up and Away topic, our Infant 2 (Year 2) classes recently visited Jodrell Bank.
The children were excited to learn more about the sun and the moon, especially as they were able to take their very own 3D ride through the solar system on a rocket.
They also had time to explore the other exhibits at Jodrell Bank, including the incredible Lovell telescope. Measuring 76m in diameter, the children were amazed at the size of the famous telescope.
Mr Blakemore is one of the Infant 2 teachers who accompanied the trip. He reflected on a very successful trip: “It has been wonderful to see the children engaging with the exhibits and putting their classroom learning into context.
“One of the highlights of the day was using the whispering dishes. These showed how dishes are able to focus waves, allowing us to hear a quiet, whispering voice from a long distance.
“It has been a real treat to visit such an important local scientific centre and we are looking forward to following up on our learning when we are back in school.”
