Careers Breakfast: Occupational Therapist and NHS Manager Mr Stephen Levitt (OKS 2003)

Many thanks to former King’s student, and current King’s rowing coach, Stephen Levitt (OKS 2003) who spoke at this morning’s careers breakfast about being an Occupational Therapist.

Mr Levitt has spent the majority of his career working as an Occupational Therapist in Learning Disability and Mental Health services, and now manages a multidisciplinary team in an NHS Trust.

Students were interested to hear about the skills and attributes that a good Occupational Therapist needs, as well as the importance of collaborative work within a team of professionals. Mr Levitt also spoke about the benefits of his co-curricular activities in his current role and encouraged students to get involved with the wealth of opportunities at King’s.

In addition to hearing about the work of an Occupational Therapist, Mr Levitt brought to life some aspects of his role with interactive tasks that gave the students cause to think about the disabilities and limitations that many of his patients face on a daily basis.

Head of Careers Dr Hensman said: “Thank you to Mr Levitt for an interesting and interactive talk today.

“Students learned a lot about the breadth of work that Occupational Therapists do, and the interactive tasks really made them think about the frustrations that people feel when they can’t complete everyday tasks that we take for granted.”

Our next careers breakfast will take place on Friday, 23 June with Tech Sales expert, Will Scott. Students can sign up now on SOCS.
