Careers Breakfast: Suzie Henderson

Thank you to Suzie Henderson, Creative Director at the Storyhouse for this week’s Careers Breakfast.

Suzie gave an interesting overview of her career to date, sharing with students that her love of drama and the arts began when she was in her first years at senior school.

After completing a degree in Drama at Bristol University, Suzie went on to work on a number of diverse and interesting projects in the UK and overseas, becoming Head of Creative Development at Contact in Manchester before taking up her role at Storyhouse just over a year ago.

Amongst those who attended were many students who play an active role in the creative life of King’s and who have aspirations to pursue a career in the arts. Suzie’s advice to them was to get involved with projects, such as the many youth programme at Storyhouse, and to see as much live theatre as possible.

Having been first inspired to pursue her career by a trip to the Edinburgh Festival, Suzie also recommended volunteering at local and national festivals as a great way to gain experience and expand your network of contacts.

Dr Hensman, Head of Careers, was grateful to Suzie for speaking to students at today’s careers breakfast.

He said: “It was great to hear from Suzie about her career in the Arts and I know that our students will feel inspired by the advice and experience she has shared this morning.”
