Carina Chau (U6FOX) set her sights on college in Canada and was delighted to receive offers from two Canadian universities.
She said: “I received offers from the University of British Colombia and the University of Toronto.
“UBC also offered me a scholarship, which was fantastic, so I have accepted my place there and really looking forward to starting!”
Carina is planning to major in Chemistry and will take classes in Chemistry, Maths and Physics but the flexibility of the Canadian system means that she will also be able to study modules in other subjects that interest her.
The Canadian applications included answering questions about herself, her future plans and her time at school.
As Maths prefect, member of the netball team and one of our Mental Fitness Ambassadors, Carina was able to draw on a number of examples from her time at King’s to answer the questions about her leadership and teamwork skills.
She thanked Head of Sixth Form, Mr Carter and her tutor, Mr Rees for their support with her applications.
“Overseas applications are made outside of the usual UCAS process so I was very grateful to both Mr Carter and Mr Rees for the help and advice they gave me.
“Mr Carter was able to recommend scholarships, and both helped me with the different application forms and by providing references.”
Carina is currently sitting her A Level exams and we look forward to following her Canadian journey.
