Curry and Quiz Night

Thank you to everyone who came to our very first annual Curry and Quiz Night! The first event of this academic year was fully booked more than a week in advance and it was wonderful to see so many keen quizzers enjoy an evening of good fun and excellent food.

The evening began with a choice of delicious curries served up by our catering team and guests enjoyed the opportunity to catch up with old friends. The new Sixth Form Centre was a fitting venue for the evening, prompting many Alumni to reminisce about their own time in Sixth Form when things looked very different!

After dinner, guests settled in for the start of the quiz, which was written and hosted by Dr Ravi Jayaram (OKS 1985). His jokes were a big hit and the variety of quiz rounds meant that everyone had to get their thinking caps on!

The picture round was a particular challenge for all but the well-travelled few, with many of the teams wishing they were members of our Vexillological Society (that’s flag club to those not in the know!). The music round was another crowd-pleaser featuring music from a variety of genres and eras.

A total of 90 people, competing in 16 teams, fought it out for the coveted first prize with “Duncan and the Losers” eventually walking away with a bottle of fizz each, the coveted winners title and hopefully more faith in their general knowledge than their team name suggests!

Best Team Name went to “We thought this was speed dating” and the wooden spoon went to a team of current parents who prefer to remain nameless.

We look forward to repeating the event next year. Will Duncan and the Losers retain the title in 2024? Only time will tell!
