World Book Day is a celebration and that’s just what we’ve been doing today here at King’s. We’ve celebrated authors, illustrators, books and (most importantly) we’ve celebrated reading.
It’s been wonderful to see all the children dressed in their outfits, inspired by the books they enjoy. We’ve had Little Miss Happy & Mr Strong, Tigers Who Came for Tea, Sherlock Holmes looking for clues, Willy Wonka (with an Umpa Lumpa of course) and enough Harry Potters to shake a magic stick at!
The day has been full of fun activities, starting with a parade, a wonderful opportunity to see each other’s outfits. Throughout the day pupils have been designing beautiful book covers, making book marks and taking part in a book competition in the library. Everyone has had their favourite book with them throughout the day and at random times a trumpet has sounded so that everyone can stop what they are doing and read!
The fun continued over lunch where pupils were invited to a Hogwarts themed lunch, greeted by Professor Dumbledore himself, whilst our Infants tucked into a yummy Hungry Caterpillar style feast.
We’ve thoroughly enjoyed getting closer to the books and authors we love, and have had so much fun in the process. Well done to everyone for making it such a success!
