The annual Festive Fun Run was another runaway success on the last full day of Michaelmas term.
Running once again in aid of the Hospice of the Good Shepherd, children from Willow Lodge joined our Junior School pupils on the start line for the first time.
Sporting Christmas jumpers, festive fancy dress and holiday headbands, children and teachers from Reception to J4 challenged themselves to run as many laps of the route as possible.
The run was organised by Mr O’Neil, who was appropriately dressed as Father Christmas as he completed the laps with the children.
He said: “The Festive Fun Run has become a hugely popular annual event, and is the perfect way to end the Michaelmas Term, having fun in the fresh air and raising money for an important local charity.
“Our infants can usually be found cheering us on from the sidelines but they joined in the fun this year and it was brilliant to see so many of our older children supporting them as they ran.”
On returning to school in January, Mr O’Neil was delighted to receive the news that the 2024 fun run had raised an incredible £5,233, beating last year’s record total by more than £1,000.”
He said: “I was over the moon when I found out how much we raised for the Hospice of the Good Shepherd this year.
“I am extremely proud of all of our festive fun runners; the hospice has to raise more than £3 million per year just to keep going and I know how much difference every donation makes.”
