On May 20, rain didn’t dampen spirits in Willow Lodge as the whole school took their lessons and activities outside for Outdoor Classroom Day.
Outdoor Classroom Day is a global movement designed to celebrate and inspire outdoor learning and play.
The campaign organisers believe that outdoor learning improves children’s health, engages them with lessons and leads to a greater connection with nature – and we couldn’t agree more!
As well as having special maths and phonics lessons outside, children from Reception, Infant 1 and Infant 2 got involved in a variety of activities.
From important jobs such as weeding the vegetable patch and litter picking in the Junior School playground, to creating art from nature and practising their balancing skills on the slackline, lots of fun was had by all!
A highlight of the day for staff and children alike was eating lunch around the fire pit in Forest School.
