After the weather put a stop to Sports Day last half-term, there was much excitement in the air as children in Willow Lodge took to the field to showcase their sporting skills.
In the morning, children in our two Reception classes took part in a series of races, including the ever-popular Olympic relay. With parents, staff and older children cheering them on, our youngest pupils proudly represented their teams and had lots of fun.
In the afternoon, it was the turn of our Infant 1 and Infant 2 children who took part in a round-robin of throwing, jumping and hurdling before lining up on the track for their sprint and relay races.
Deputy Head of Willow Lodge, Hannah Gardiner, reflected on a fun, sport-filled day.
She said: “The children had lots of fun today and it was great for them to be able to show parents, siblings and grandparents the skills they have been working on this term.
“They also showed great sportsmanship and really entered into the spirit of the occasion.
“Huge thanks have to go to our Sports Coach, Mrs Bartlett, who works so hard to prepare the children for Sports Day, and also to organise such a wonderful day.”
Thank you also to the KSPA volunteers for providing refreshments, and to the Junior School pupils who helped out throughout the day.
