With four North West indoor hockey titles already secured, our hockey teams are celebrating a strong start to the season.
The U18 boys led the way as they beat Manchester Grammar School in an exciting shootout to reach the Nationals in London.
In Rossall, the U16 girls dominated in their regional finals, winning without conceding a single goal. They are now looking forward to the National Finals which will be held at Repton.
On the same day as the girls’ victory, the U14 boys defended their North West title with an impressive win on home ground. Keeping a clean sheet for the whole tournament, they went on to a convincing 5-0 victory over Sandbach.
The U12 Finals were also held at King’s where our youngest squad emulated their U14 counterparts to defend their title without conceding a goal. A comfortable 3-0 win against Calday Grange secured their place in the North of England Finals.
Hockey coach, Dr Chris Ashcroft, has been impressed with the teams’ indoor performances.
He said: “We had a lot to celebrate last season in the indoor game but the 2024/25 already looks like it’s going to be even better.
“We lost some momentum during Covid and the refurbishment of the sports centre so it is fantastic to see that we are rebuilding even stronger. I am excited to see what the rest of this season brings.”
