Congratulations to the U12 and U14 boys who successfully defended their North of England indoor hockey titles at Manchester Grammar School recently.
The U12s were nervous as they lost their first match and only drew their second, but the remainder of the results went their way. Needing to win their final match to secure the title, the boys faced Yarm School in the final match; a nail-biting game was eventually won by King’s in the final minute with a goal by Olly Boothroyd (RMRA) and King’s topped the table on goals scored.
The U14s enjoyed a strong start to their day, beating Sandbach 5-1 in the opener and securing a convincing 6-0 win against RGS Newcastle in the second game. Needing a draw against Yarm to win the title, Monty Jones (SHBRD) scored a second-half equalizer to grab the vital point.
