A record that has stood for two years has been broken this term by a member of the U13 hockey team.
In 2022/23, Harry McKenna, who is now in Thirds, became the first pupil to attend 100 hockey training sessions in a single season but his record was broken this year by current Shells pupil, Kabir Butt (SHDUT).
Kabir has showed up in all weathers since the beginning of the year, becoming a regular at Wednesday morning training, as well as attending Hockey Fest at lunchtime three times per week, totalling an impressive 104 training sessions since September.
Proving that practice always pays off, Kabir earned his place in this year’s hugely successful U13 squad. As part of the squad, Kabir has won the Cheshire & Wirral title, finished as runners-up in North West finals and won the National Bronze medal in the Independent Schools Cup.
Kabir is pictured here with Director of Hockey, Simon Egerton who praised him for his commitment: “Regular attendance at training is key to sporting success and Kabir has truly embraced this. It’s hard to imagine that anyone might break his incredible training record but I’d challenge any of next year’s players to try!”
