Congratulations to Luke Taylor (4FOX) who won the East Anglian Trophy meeting at Kimbolton Kart track earlier this month.
Luke, who races in the Senior X30 class, is in his second season of kart racing and is the youngest competitor in his class, regularly facing competition from older and more experienced drivers.
On the weekend of May 7, Luke travelled to Cambridgeshire to take part in the annual meeting.
Luke worked hard with his team and data engineers to qualify in pole position for the first heat.
He won the first heat by 1.5 seconds but was faced with a tougher race in heat two, battling back from sixth position to eventually claim third place.
This set up Luke to start the championship race in third place.
Starting well, he held third place for the first two laps before passing the leading drivers at the first turn of lap three to take the lead.
He remained in first position for the remaining 11 laps to claim his first win in the Senior X30 class and become the East Anglian Champion by more than two seconds.
At the beginning of the season, Luke challenged himself to race at national level championships. He is delighted to have raced – and won – at this level and is looking forward to future races.
