On Saturday, 18 March, The King’s School was proud to play host to the Chester Speech and Drama Festival.
The annual festival attracts entries from around the region and gives infant and junior-aged children an opportunity to demonstrate a number of skills, including verse speaking, improvisation, and prose reading.
Once again this year, a number of children from Willow Lodge and King’s Juniors took part in the festival, performing with confidence and poise.
J4 teacher Mr Melville helped some of the older children in King’s Juniors to prepare for the competition and was very proud of all who competed.
He said: “It was fantastic to see so many of our children having fun with their performances and enjoying the experience; the trophies, medals and certificates were just the icing on the cake!
“The J4 individual and group performers won every category they entered, which is such a phenomenal result. I am incredibly proud of them all.”
Ravanne Hamer is one of the LAMDA teachers at King’s and she teaches some of the younger children in their weekly lessons.
She echoed Mr Melville’s comments: “The children really enjoyed performing and they all did themselves proud.
“They were word perfect with super animation and vocal expression; there is so much talent in all of the year groups.”
Congratulations to everyone who took part, many of whom are pictured here with their trophies, medals and certificates.
