King’s School Rowing: Northwich Regatta

After a brilliant National Schools’ Regatta and some great training on the Dee throughout June, we took 78 athletes to Northwich to race at their annual regatta.

On Sunday, June 27, the 1000-metre course on the stunning River Weaver was the stage for our crews who raced through the three divisions.

The day kicked off with the Senior crews in the Regatta Cup, who raced well against both Men’s and Women’s Senior teams from the North West. The J15 boys’ team also raced during the first division and came away with a J16 win over hosts Northwich.

Divisions two and three were busy race schedules for King’s. The J15 and J16 teams raced some tough opposition from the North West in a very competitive but supportive regional environment.

The winning crews of the day from the King’s School, Chester were:

J18 8+: Haroon Mustafa, Josh Acton, Will Standing, Archie Barker, Hugh Hudson, Luke Dillon, Giorgio Poletti, Anthony Audas and Louis Corrigan.

J16 8+: Louis Roberts, Matt Walker, Will Saul, Fin Thomson, Fergus McKeown, Fraser Brown, Angus Rees, Eric Hughes and Benji Hughes.

J16 4x: William Oleshko, Ted Arnold, George Munday and Mahir Ahsan

WJ15 2x: Cordilia England and Aoife Mulholland

WJ15 2x: Sinead O’Mahony and Imogen Brander

WJ14 2x: Annabel Swift and Maya Swift

WJ15 4x+: Samya Saha, Sinead O’Mahony, Cordilia England, Aoife Mulholland and Shriya Palakurthi.

Mr Blackham was full of praise the teams: “All crews raced with real professionalism and determination to make every performance a proud one for both themselves and the Rowing Club. We’d also like to thank all at Northwich Rowing Club for a fantastic and safe event.”
