Three King’s pupils are celebrating after receiving the results of the annual Mathematical Education on Merseyside (MEM) challenges.
The MEM challenges are an annual event and have run during February half term holidays for more than 40 years, regularly attracting in excess of 2,000 entries per year.
The challenges are split into two categories, each aimed at a different age group. The “best in school” for each category is invited to an evening of mathematical recreation in the Central Teaching Hub at the University of Liverpool, where they will be presented with their prize.
Congratulations to the winners from The King’s School who will be joining fellow mathematicians at the university later this month:
Best in school for Challenge ’24 Year 8 or below – Tony Kan (RMRA)
Best in school for Senior Challenge ’24 Year 10 or below – Tanmay Madhusudhan (4GRO)
Congratulations also go to Wiktor Lech (4BRD) who was highly commended in the Senior Challenge.
Maths teacher Ms Roberts teaches all three pupils and is very proud of their achievements.
She said: “Although we encourage all students to enter the challenges during the half-term holiday, there is no obligation for them to do so.
“I am proud that Tony, Tanmay and Wiktor – along with many other students – chose to take on this challenge in their own time, and performed so well.”
