Congratulations to mathematicians in Sixth Form for their success in the recent UK Senior Mathematical Challenge (SMC).
A total of 42 students, some of whom are pictured here, took part in the SMC and we were delighted to achieve an impressive 17 Bronze certificates, 11 Silvers and one Gold.
A special mention goes to Eduardo Perny (U6WER) for his Gold award, and for being crowned Best in School. Eduardo now qualifies for the next round of the challenge, the Senior Kangaroo.
Abigail Webster (L6GLA) and Maya Swift (L6BRD) are also commended for their Best in Year awards.
The Senior Mathematical Challenge is a 90 minute, multiple-choice challenge which aims to encourage mathematical reasoning, precision of thought and fluency. The problems on the Senior Mathematical Challenge are designed to be challenging and to make students think.
Well done to all of the participants and good luck to Eduardo in the next round.
