Outstanding LAMDA success for Infants and Juniors

Congratulations to students across Willow Lodge and Junior School for their resounding success in this summer’s LAMDA (London Academy of Music & Dramatic Art) examinations.

A LAMDA exam is the speech and drama equivalent of a music grade, which begin at basic levels and culminates at Grade 8. The exams use performance to develop self confidence, physical presence and a strong speaking voice, covering a range of disciplines including acting, miming and speaking in public.

82 children took exams at different levels, with more than 75 gaining a distinction, and the following ten pupils scoring an impressive 100%:

  • Abigail Garner
  • Matilda Greenhalgh
  • Jessica Knight
  • Zahra Pope
  • Dravin Rohith Rao
  • Max Sebborn
  • Luca Simpson
  • Theodora Thomas
  • India Thorne
  • Alexander Woods

Ravanne Hamer is one of our LAMDA teachers who works with pupils across the school in their weekly lessons.

She said: “This year’s results have been outstanding! The children have worked incredibly hard so to see so many marks of distinction makes me very proud.”

LAMDA speech and drama classes are an increasingly popular extra curricular activity in Willow Lodge and Junior School.

In our recent ISI inspection, our pupils were praised for their excellent communication skills with inspectors commenting that they “speak confidently and express themselves clearly”.

Mrs Hamer continued: “LAMDA plays a really big part in building that confidence and giving pupils those skills to communicate effectively.

“It’s also really good fun and our classes can help bring out the budding actor in anyone!”
