Infants take flight at Manchester Airport

Children in our two Infant 1 (Year 1) classes recently enjoyed a flying visit to the Airport Visitor Park at Manchester Airport.

The trip was an opportunity to bring this term’s “Where in the World” topic to life and the children enjoyed seeing inside a cockpit, touching the nose of a plane, dressing up in uniforms worn by different airport workers and learning all about what makes an airport run well.

Miss Gardiner is one of the Infant 1 teachers and was pleased with how the children engaged with everything they saw on their trip.

She said: “Learning outside the classroom is a really important part of what we do in all year groups at Willow Lodge.

“On today’s trip, the children have enjoyed getting hands-on with the aeroplanes and talking to people who work at the airport. Seeing things from a different perspective in this way helps to consolidate the learning we do in school, and encourages them to think about the topic in a different way.”
