As part of the Forest School curriculum, children from Willow Lodge have been learning the ancient art of willow weaving, with the help of Sarah Gallagher-Hayes from “Twigtwisters”.
Weaving with natural materials is one of the widest spread crafts in the history of any human civilisation. Willow weavers have used their skills to make all kinds of products, including baskets, fences and decorative sculptures. Our Willow Lodge weavers have worked hard to create a “peekaboo” fence for them all to play in and enjoy in the delightful Forest School.
It was quite incredible to see how quickly the structure took shape and how easily our youngsters picked up the expertise to create such an impressive feature. Well done Willow Lodge!
