PUPIL VOICE: Delicious new dishes following lunch survey

Eagle-eyed diners will have noticed some big changes in 1541 following a recent survey of Senior School students, in which they were asked for their input into lunches at King’s. 

Students voted for their favourite dishes, including top soup flavours and sandwich fillings, and were invited to make suggestions for changes to the current menu  – a number of which have already been put in place. 

Next, we look forward to sharing the survey with Junior School pupils and gathering their vital feedback too. 

Changes already made include: 

• A wider variety of bread used for the daily sandwiches, including wraps and baguettes
• An overhaul of vegetarian options that more closely reflect the meat dish offered that day. For example, vege Swedish meatballs will now be added to the menu
• A ‘simpler’ offering on the salad bar 
• Fewer ‘traditional’ dishes such as roast dinner
• A reintroduction of Theme Days – including a Smoothie Station this Thursday (January 27) 
• The return of  Fish & Chip Friday! 

An updated menu will be shared with parents in coming weeks and will include ‘Chef’s Choice’ Thursday when new dishes based on the survey results will be introduced and then voted on by the pupils, in both Senior School and Junior School, before they become a permanent addition at King’s.
