Removes delight at baking workshop with a French twist

On Friday, 23 June a number of keen Removes bakers took part in a French-themed after-school baking workshop.

The pupils made classic French madeleine cakes, adding their own spin on the popular delicacy with a sprinkling of chocolate chips.

The workshop was designed to put the pupils’ language skills to the test. With help from MFL prefects Lily and Max, they followed a recipe written entirely in French before decorating their cakes and enjoying their delicious creations.

The workshop was led by French and Spanish teacher Miss Higgins. She said: “This was a really fun session and it was great to see the Removes pupils so engaged with the language.

“From September, these pupils will all pick up a second language and some of them have chosen French. For them, this was a fun and useful introduction to the language.”
