Every year, we invite our new Removes (Year 7s) to complete a summer reading challenge before they start school in September.
This year’s challenge took the form of a reading bingo card which gave pupils 25 separate challenges to complete, with rewards available for the number of lines completed, as well as for the most creative response to a book.
Challenges included reading a classic, reading a book set in a school, reading outdoors, borrowing a book from a library and recommending a book to our Head Librarian, Miss Brooks.
There was a great response to the challenge, with an incredible eleven students completing all 25 squares of their Bingo card.
Students who took part in the challenge were treated to a special tea party in the library and will receive a certificate and a £10 book token in assembly.
Some of the keen readers are pictured here with Head of Removes, Miss Sherriff, who joined them for the celebrations.
