On Saturday. April 23, the National Water Sports Centre in Nottingham played host to the annual Junior Inter-Regional Regatta.
KSRC qualified five boats to race and represent the North West team in the competition.
Bright and breezy conditions made for a challenging 1000 meter course but Rowing Coach James Gray was very impressed with how the students rose to the occasion.
He said: “All students excelled, putting into practice the skills they had developed on the Easter training camp at Llandegfedd Reservoir.
“For many of the students, this was only their first or second experience of a multi lane regatta and they should all be very proud of themselves.”
Silver medals went to the J16 girls VIII and J16 boys coxed four, as well as to Owen Davis racing in his single scull. Congratulations to them all!
The J15 boys coxed four showed great determination and skill in their first multi-lane regatta to achieve a time that earned them sixth position overall.
The J16 boys VIII just missed out on the medals achieving fourth place overall.
Lucy Caldwell competed as a sub in a J15 girls coxed four from Trentham Rowing Club and won a bronze medal.
Guy Fargher (4GRO) rowed with the J15 boys coxed four and said: “This has been a really good experience. Great organisation and overall, a solid race and a great day”
Well done to everyone involved for a tremendous day on the water.
