Rowing: Wallingford Regatta

On Sunday, 30 April, six King’s School Rowing Club (KSRC) crews took to the 2000m course at Dorney Lake for the Wallingford Regatta.

After an early start, the crews rowed well, gaining valuable experience for the upcoming National Schools Regatta.

The J16 boys coxed four achieved fourth place in their heat and the women’s junior eight achieved fifth place before splitting into a coxed four and coxless four.

In the boys J18 coxless four, KSRC placed third in their heat, qualifying them for the final where, in a very competitive field, the boys raced hard to take sixth place.

Coach James Gray was pleased with the day’s performances.

He said: “For these young crews, Wallingford Regatta provided an opportunity to race at a national level and expose them to the ‘Championship’ standard.

“It is also a great exercise in the resilience and bouncebackability that was the subject of Mr Hartley’s recent whole school assembly.”
