Senior players pull off impressive double win

At the end of last term, we celebrated huge success for both our football and hockey boys’ first teams with wins for both in national finals. For three senior players who featured in both winning teams, it meant they pulled off a double that hasn’t been seen at King’s for many years.

Maaz Afridi (5LES), Charlie Beyeler (L6WER) and Jack Nash (L6DUT) achieved this rare feat at the end of the Lent Term, winning both the ISHC Plate Championships in Nottingham against Haileybury School, and the ISFA Trophy Championships in a nail-biting penalty shoot-out against Abingdon School in Slough.

Director of Sport, Richard Lunn, praised the three boys on their remarkable achievement.

He said: “Last term was one of the most successful in terms of sporting achievement for many years and for three boys to play such a big part in two of our national wins is testament to both their talent and their stamina.

“Maaz, Charlie and Jack show up to football and hockey training week after week and work hard at both sports. They are all great sportsmen and they should be very proud of their achievements this term.

“Winning two national finals just two days apart is no mean feat and it be some time before we see the likes of it again!”
