Shells Swimmers make a splash at Olympic Park

On Saturday, 19 November, four swimmers from King’s travelled to London to take part in the English Schools Swimming Association (ESSA) championships.

The girls, all of whom are in Shells, qualified for the event after competing at Everton Park in September where they clocked an impressive medley time of 2.28:44, they went into the finals as one of the top 30 teams nationally.

The finals were held at the prestigious Olympic Park and the team prepared to take on some of the best schools in the country.

Despite all four girls achieving personal bests for their splits on the day, the team narrowly missed out on a place in the final.

Director of Sport, Richard Lunn, accompanied the girls to London and said: “This was a fantastic opportunity for the girls to experience high level competition.

“The team did King’s proud by swimming brilliantly in their heat with each achieving impressive personal bests. I am really proud of what this team has achieved and I know that they will use this experience as they prepare for future competitions.”

Congratulations to the team:

  • Freya Querelle (SHLES)
  • Immie Smith (SHGRO)
  • Jess Goldsmith (SHFOX)
  • Isobel Singleton (SHWER)

Swim training is held every Tuesday, Thursday and Friday before school and all Senior School students are welcome to attend.
