On Sunday, 25 September, two King’s pupils were promoted to full choristers at Chester Cathedral.
Sisters India and Hettie Skyrme-Walker (RMRL and J2B) were appointed as probationary choristers in September 2021 following a successful audition with the Director of Music.
The two girls have spent the last twelve months attending Cathedral three evenings per week. During this period, the girls have received rigorous vocal training and have been learning the chorister routines.
In Sunday’s service, they were promoted by the Dean of Chester, Dr Tim Stratford, who is also a King’s School Governor.
Now, as full choristers, India and Hettie will attend Cathedral on alternate weekends, singing on Saturday afternoons and all day on Sundays.
Both girls are understandably very proud of their achievement and are looking forward to singing regularly at the Cathedral.
Director of Music, Debbie Whitfield, said: “We are very proud of India and Hettie. Both girls are fully involved in the musical life of King’s in Senior School and Junior School, and I am delighted that they have been recognised in this way.”
