Our junior rowers were on the water last weekend to take part in a number of events at Shrewsbury Regatta.
In the J14 2nd octuplet event, both the boys and the girls crews raced, with the girls racing in the boys event. Both teams defeated their Shrewsbury School opposition in the semi-final, to set up an enthralling King’s encounter in the final. A final push at the finish line saw the girls A octuple win the event!
Well done to: Emma Henry (3HS), Lauren Barnes (3RA), Lily Van Loock (3HS), Chloe Horton (3HS), Molly Rudd (3RA), Emily Hunt (J3B), Lucy Plunkett (3HS) Tilly Irvine (3AL) and cox Mia Jones (3RL) (pictured).
In another huge crowd pleaser, the J14 girls B crew also won their event! The impressive crew was: Emma Bosworth (3JJ), Molly Ferrara (3RA), Mansi Gupta (3AL), Hope Pearce (3RL), Annabel Pochin (3RA), Olivia Barnes (3AL), Madeline Ellis (3RA), Philippa Whitley (3JJ) and cox Mia Jones (3RL).
The A octuples (boys) from Shrewsbury and King’s were equally matched; technique and determination shown by King’s, whilst Shrewsbury raced with intensity and strength. Again it was an epic final 200 metres, with King’s ultimately winning the gold!
Congratulations to: Thomas Leitch (3HS), Arthur Greenwood (3AL), Luke Mulholland (3RL), Joshua Acton (3RL), Angus Millard (3HS), William Standing (3RA), Barney Easter (3JJ), Louis Corrigan 3JJ, and cox James Henry (3RL).
Very well done to all who competed and grateful thanks to the supporters who certainly gave our crews a lift in all the racing!
