As part of their Geography studies, 101 Thirds (Year 9 students) recently spent a day undertaking fieldwork at Salford Quays.
In a valuable, hands-on experience, students delved into the fascinating world of urban regeneration through the exploration of the revitalised landscape of the Salford Quays.
Witnessing the transformation of the area firsthand enhanced the students’ understanding of urban geography and in the impact on deindustrialisation on UK cities.
Geography teacher Mrs Aldridge led the trip. She said: “Fieldwork is an essential element of Geography and it has been wonderful today to see the students investigating the concept of regeneration with such energy and enthusiasm.
“This trip gives students an invaluable opportunity to consolidate the learning we have done in the classroom. They spend the day practising key skills, such as interpreting and analysing data they collected to form their own conclusions and these skills will benefit them in all of their future studies, especially as they begin their GCSE courses next year.”
