At the end of their first term in Willow Lodge, children in Reception enjoyed a toasty treat in Forest School.
Since September, Forest School sessions have been a weekly highlight for our youngest children, whatever the weather.
From making art out of nature to using tools such as hand drills and bow saws, they have enjoyed a variety of activities and learned many new skills during their sessions.
They have watched the seasons change from late summer, through Autumn into winter and it was on a frosty, wintery day that they gathered around the fire pit to enjoy a warming cup of hot chocolate.
The treat was organised by Deputy Head of Willow Lodge and Forest School leader Mrs Callaghan.
She said: “It has been a pleasure introducing our Reception children to the magic of Forest School during their first term in Willow Lodge.
“Forest School is great for developing problem solving and communication skills, as well as a love of the great outdoors and it is wonderful to see the children benefitting from it every week.
“We are already looking forward to next term when the trees will start to blossom again and we’ll welcome new wildlife into our Forest School.”
