Indoor Hockey: U16 North West Champions

On Friday, 11 November, the U16 Boys indoor hockey team were crowned North West Champions

After a couple of years re-establishing indoor hockey after Covid, the U16 squad built on their recent National outdoor successes by attending their first North West indoor event of the season.

Held at Manchester Grammar School, King’s fielded a young side in the competition, all of whom will be available for next year’s U16 events.  against strong sides from Altrincham, Macclesfield and Bolton.

Unbeaten against Altrincham, Macclesfield and Bolton as they went into the final against the hosts, King’s took the win after a heroic save from Will Mason (4LES) and sailed through into the National finals.

Dr Chris Ashcroft, Hockey Coach at King’s, said “It was a marvellous effort from the whole squad.

“The combined age of this team was 14 years younger than the maximum allowed so we are certainly building for the future. The players must now work hard to prepare for the tough test that lies ahead at the Nationals in London January.”
