A gathered audience of staff and pupils were delighted by our latest lunchtime recital, which saw the string ensembles take centre stage.
Under the guidance of Head of Strings, Mr Lansom, the audience was treated to five pieces performed by trios, quartets and our string orchestra.
The first ensemble to perform was Removes Strings who, in their final performance as an ensemble, gave a lively rendition of Spring from Vivaldi’s Four Seasons. Later this term, Removes Strings will team up with the J4s to form a new ensemble, 6s and 7s Strings, which will span Junior School and Senior School.
The full programme of the recital was:
Removes Strings (Leo, Sadhbh, Jessica, Scarlett, Isobel and Elizabeth) – Spring from Vivaldi’s Four Seasons
Quartet #1 (Angela, Felix, James and Sara) – March by Handel
Trio (Daniel, Joe and Connie) – Entracte to Act 3 of Bizet’s Carmen
Quartet #2 (Peter, Leo, Partap and George) – Theme from UEFA Champions League (from Zadok the Priest by Handel)
String Orchestra, led by Peter Evans – Romanian Folk Dances by Bartók
